Even though he was lying on the operating table just a day earlier, Carlos Sainz was not deterred from using all his knowledge to support the super-substitute Oliver Bearman.
The young Brit, who finished 7th, continues to amaze the crowd of fans and the global press, who, after the waves had subsided, said that he owes a lot to Sainz, who provided advice during the race and supported him throughout:
"I owe him a lot, he briefed me on the starting procedure, provided lots of excellent advice, and promised to be there on the pit wall to support me. I was very happy to see him, and he looked and felt much better," Bearman said.
Team principal Frédéric Vasseur also did not forget to praise his regular driver, highlighting what a beautiful gesture it was from Sainz to return to the team just one day after surgery, when no one would have said a word if he had wanted to rest. Vasseur also emphasized that the Spaniard is a huge fighter.
It is worth adding that this attitude, especially after what the Scuderia Ferrari showed towards him regarding the Lewis Hamilton case, speaks volumes about professionalism.
