Leclerc: Penalty, food poisoning, bad start in Abu Dhabi

Leclerc: Penalty, food poisoning, bad start in Abu Dhabi

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

The weekend started poorly for Scuderia Ferrari at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where the reds are fighting for nothing less than the constructors' championship title this weekend.

In this race, they have already fallen behind, and not just once... While the driver suffered from food poisoning at the end-of-year dinner for the competitors, his car's battery pack failed. Everything started off dreamily, as Charles Leclerc was able to hit the track at the same time as his brother, Arthur:

"It all started last night when I got food poisoning. I didn't sleep all night, I was extremely tired, I couldn't think of anything else but when I could finally get to bed. The day started off very difficult... I didn't really feel like getting into the car, but I was very motivated, we could drive together with Arthur. This made a dream come true, which is why our whole family traveled here, so I couldn't miss it for that reason alone.

When it became clear that we had problems with the battery and it needed to be replaced, many things came to mind. First, that I might lose the opportunity to be on the track with my brother during a Formula 1 weekend. Then there's the constructors' championship... We have to start from ten places back, making the weekend much more difficult. But overall, I see it as a challenge! I feel a bit better now, I'll get some rest at night, and I'll return with fully charged batteries. What we need is a great tomorrow and an amazing Sunday!" – said the unfortunate Charles Leclerc.
