Christian Danner, former German F1 driver for Zakspeed, believes that Mercedes can only solve Lewis Hamilton's replacement with a quality driver.
Currently working as an expert, Danner's opinion is that Mercedes somehow needs to try to buy Max Verstappen out of his current contract because the Dutchman would be the best option for them.
"Only a top-class driver can replace a top-class driver for the German manufacturer, but they must consider all options. Legal or financial obstacles, or an existing contract, cannot hold them back. They should consider every driver at Mercedes' level, including Max Verstappen! In fact, he would be the best solution because we all know Hamilton's qualities, and we also know what Verstappen is capable of. Then there's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, both considered top drivers, and they should also be considered. Both have the potential to be multiple world champions; they just need the right technical support, which Mercedes can provide over time." - Danner stated.
