Alonso Takes a Dig: "Hamilton's Dream is Ferrari? I Remember Something Else Completely"

Alonso Takes a Dig: "Hamilton's Dream is Ferrari? I Remember Something Else Completely"

Krisztián Márk Tóth |

Even before the season has begun, we're already scratching our heads about what's happening in the world of Formula 1. Now, for instance, Fernando Alonso has taken a jab at Lewis Hamilton, who will be joining Scuderia Ferrari in 2025.

The two-time world champion admitted that he was a bit late to hear about the "news of the century" because he was in training camp:

"I was a day late because I was training. I missed the whole hype... Which, to me, is quite strange because just a year ago, he wasn't dreaming of Scuderia Ferrari. Not even two months ago... His dream was completely different!

But I don't think he made a bad decision. After all, Ferrari is Ferrari. I wish him to enjoy the moment, the experience. A very special environment and team await him, and it will be truly great when he can win with them! He'll have every chance because in recent years, the car has been getting faster, they've been seriously competing for the podium, and Lewis's class might just give them that extra push in the championship fight!

I think Ferrari is on the right track. Last year, they were the only ones capable of beating Red Bull, and they were very fast in qualifying, in single-lap pace. So, the car can contribute to that. However, his decision still surprises me because it seemed to me that he had very strong ties to Mercedes, and that loyalty would last until the end of his career. It was unexpected for me, but of course, I don't know the background or the reasons, I don't know the whole story. But then again, I'm not really interested."
