Max Verstappen has openly discussed the ongoing aerodynamic challenges faced by Red Bull Racing during the 2026 Formula 1® season, highlighting the difficulties experienced at the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. The RB22 car suffered from unpredictable aero issues that significantly affected its drivability, particularly during qualifying.

Verstappen described the car’s condition as “completely broken aerodynamically,” with the balance deteriorating to the point where adjustments to the front wing could no longer compensate. During qualifying at the Hungaroring, these problems culminated in oversteer and spins, including a notable spin at the final corner that summed up the session’s struggles. Despite the issues, Verstappen secured a fourth-place start on the grid, aided by grid penalties applied to other drivers.

Team principal Laurent Mekies had hoped the Hungaroring’s energy-rich layout would suit the RB22 better, but the reality proved more challenging. Verstappen’s teammate, Isack Hadjar, also faced difficulties, starting one row behind Verstappen.
