Verstappen did it in Miami too: pole!

Verstappen did it in Miami too: pole!

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

The asphalt has dried, the qualification has arrived, and with it the hour of truth, when it was decided that the McLaren is the number one force in Miami as well!?

In Q1, Kimi Antonelli was still exchanging places, but Max Verstappen took the lead, and Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz were also strongly opening up. By the end of the session, this changed in that Norris also arrived for Verstappen. However, those who did not make it to Q2 were precisely Fernando Alonso, Nico Hülkenberg, Pierre Gasly, Oliver Bearman, and Lance Stroll.

The first fast laps in Q2 showed Verstappen, Sainz, Leclerc in that order, but not for long, as the two McLarens quickly flashed, and they were already in the lead in the order of Piastri and Norris. Antonelli also closed in behind them. In the end, the top two did not change, but Russell, Isack Hadjar, Lewis Hamilton, Gabriel Bortoleto, Jack Doohan, and Liam Lawson had to say goodbye.

Then came Q3, and the usual question: Will there be anyone to stop the McLaren? After the first shots, it seemed that this person could again be Verstappen, as he was ahead, albeit by a hair, of Norris and Piastri. In the end, it stayed that way, Max Verstappen did it again, finishing in pole position ahead of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the Miami Grand Prix qualifying.
