"Shit, the lights went out" - Is Russell going to be fined 40,000 euros?

"Shit, the lights went out" - Is Russell going to be fined 40,000 euros?

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

The 2025 racing season hasn't even started yet, but George Russell could already be the first in something. There is a high chance that he will be the one on whom the FIA sets an example with its new cursing regulations.

The Mercedes driver let slip during the first day of the Bahrain tests, where he mentioned to the Viaplay streaming service about the power outage that disrupted the day, saying, "Oh shit, the lights went out."

With this, he already found himself in the crosshairs of the new regulations, which examine whether he caused moral damage to the FIA, its reputation, its members, officials, and generally to the universal car/motorsport. What a ridiculous joke! If the accusation holds, this minor slip of Russell's will cost him 40,000 euros. If he curses again on further occasions, it could rise to as much as 120,000 euros, followed by point deductions and possibly a one-month ban. Based on this, Yuki Tsunoda and Max Verstappen might not even need to start 2025...
