One of the most interesting rumors amidst the recent Red Bull controversies is Max Verstappen's alleged intention to switch teams. If the Dutchman were to leave, he would reportedly go to Mercedes, where George Russell would be waiting for him.
Verstappen's situation is somewhat similar to Lewis Hamilton's: the Brit didn't really have a teammate at Mercedes during his years there who matched his abilities. Except for Nico Rosberg in 2016 and of course Russell, who wouldn't really be intimidated by the situation...
"I'm already in my third year facing off against the greatest racer of all time, and I feel like I've managed to hold my own against him to a great extent. So naturally, I wouldn't be scared if they put in the most successful driver of this era next to me. I would welcome the challenge! Just like before, I only focus on myself, I know I'm capable of beating anyone. There's a lot of talk going on about Red Bull Racing lately, but I feel like every team wants to have the best drivers in their ranks. Currently, Max Verstappen is the best, and any team that has a chance to get him would surely go for it," Russell commented on the matter.
It's worth noting a small detail: he didn't deny Verstappen's possible arrival with a single thought or word...
