Red Bull Racing is set to introduce a significant upgrade package to their car for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring. This technical update includes modifications to the sidepod inlet, engine cover aimed at improving reliability, floor, rear suspension, rear corner, rear wing, exhaust, and floor board profile. The changes are designed to enhance aerodynamic flow and local load performance as the team targets improved competitiveness on their home circuit.
Alongside Red Bull, all 11 teams on the grid are expected to bring various updates for the race weekend scheduled from June 26 to 28, 2026. Mercedes plans to run an updated front suspension to improve airflow to the rear, along with modifications to the coke and engine cover to enhance cooling range tuning. Ferrari will test a revised front wing endplate, remove the RV Tail element previously trialed in free practice, and introduce changes to the floor board and mirror stays focusing on aerodynamic correlation.
McLaren will experiment with an “experimental” rear wing on Lando Norris’s car, aiming to reduce drag by deploying the flap in an alternative position. They will also update the rear brake duct inlet to improve aerodynamic load in the rear corners. Alpine’s package includes a new front wing design with redesigned endplates, an updated nose, revised front corner geometry, and a diffuser winglet to boost flow conditioning. Racing Bulls will lower their exhaust tailpipe to improve rear flow management and revise diffuser trailing edge devices for better aerodynamic flow.
Haas has added two cooling louvre apertures on the sidepod upper surface and revised the front brake duct design to improve flow conditioning. Williams will not introduce any upgrades for this event. Audi brings multiple updates targeting local load performance, including changes to the front wing endplate, floor, rear suspension, beam wing, rear wing, and front and rear corner flow improvements. Aston Martin will also not run any updates during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend.
Cadillac is introducing a substantial list of upgrades, including a reprofiled sidepod inlet, resurfaced engine cover, updated cooling louvres, sidepod and coke modifications, mirror stay, and roll hoop leg fairings aimed at flow conditioning. Additionally, they will update the floor bib, floor leading edge, diffuser, and beam wing to enhance local load performance.
This wave of technical updates reflects the teams’ efforts to optimize their cars for the characteristics of the Red Bull Ring, where aerodynamic efficiency and cooling play important roles. Red Bull Racing’s package, in particular, is a notable step as they seek to improve reliability and aerodynamic performance on their home track. The upgrades will be tested during practice sessions and the race weekend, with teams aiming to gather data and assess their effectiveness under race conditions.
The Austrian Grand Prix weekend will provide a clear picture of how these developments influence each team’s performance, but no definitive conclusions about race outcomes or championship impact can be drawn solely from the upgrade announcements. The technical changes underline the ongoing development race within the championship as teams continue to refine their cars throughout the season.
