This was expressed in words by Lando Norris, who stated: the best of 2025 is McLaren, and anyone who wants to be world champion must defeat them:
“We know well that we still have a lot of work to do on this year's car. We cannot let our guard down; if we relax in this situation, we will fail, and if we think everything is okay, we will be caught off guard. We will not do that favor!
However, we see and feel that this year we are the favorites, the team has done sensational work, and our car is truly flying. But we are aware that there will be races where we will also struggle. For example, if Bahrain had been the season opener, I don’t think we would have won... But it is a fact that this year we will be the team to beat if someone wants to fight for the world championship title. We have two drivers at the front who will push each other, and Oscar Piastri will not often do us the favor of making mistakes. We performed strongly in qualifying because we motivated each other to continuously speed up and squeezed the last tenths out of the car. So, the car is good, but our team is very strong as well, and this is just the beginning.” - Norris pointed out.
