Mexican Grand Prix, FP1: Russell was the fastest

Mexican Grand Prix, FP1: Russell was the fastest

Tamás Jancsovics |

Few laps, accidents, red flag interruptions, George Russell's success. In short, this is what happened in the first practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso, who has already recovered but was still watching from the pit, lined up with five young drivers for FP1. Oliver Bearman at Scuderia Ferrari, Robert Schwartzman at Stake, Felipe Drugovich at Aston Martin, Patricio O’Ward at McLaren, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes were back in the car. Just as the laps were starting, a red flag was called due to debris on the track. Antonelli managed to drive past it, and luckily for the young Italian, his car was not damaged. The session barely continued before it had to be interrupted again, this time due to a serious accident between Bearman and Alexander Albon, who didn't understand each other. Albon ended up retiring his car, but Ferrari also took a hit. And what else happened during the practice? Nothing particularly special, George Russell won this segment ahead of Carlos Sainz and Yuki Tsunoda.
