The McLaren team sent an unusually strong message, this time directed at their own drivers. Andrea Stella emphasized that any driver who does not support the team's interests will not have a long tenure at the team!
Stella did not hold back; the team principal does not want to see any trace of the disputes that complicated McLaren's tactics on several occasions last year:
“We do not have a first and second driver; both of our drivers will receive the same opportunities, and we are approaching this year with the same principles as last year. We are proud of our performance last year and of our drivers' behavior, their positive collaboration. We learned a lot from 2024, which also includes the human factor. We were competitive, and we will be again; we cannot afford to make mistakes, which still requires close cooperation. We have drawn all the lessons from last year, and everyone will have the chance to prove themselves. However, it is important to state that if someone does not believe in McLaren's principles, then they are not the right person or the right driver for the team, and we will part ways with them.” - was the rather tough message from Stella.
