Marquez advises Hadjar on cautious wrist recovery

FansBRANDS® Team |

Isack Hadjar will miss the Dutch Grand Prix after sustaining a wrist injury during a gym session last week. The Red Bull Racing driver’s recovery is being carefully managed, with advice coming from MotoGP champion Marc Marquez, who has experience dealing with similar injuries.

Hadjar’s injury forced Red Bull to make swift driver changes, calling up Yuki Tsunoda to replace him at the Dutch event. Liam Lawson also received another opportunity to race for Red Bull amid the reshuffle. Red Bull’s focus remains on ensuring Hadjar’s full recovery without rushing his return to the car.

Marquez, who shares the same physiotherapist as Hadjar—Carlos J. Garcia—offered guidance based on his own experience with wrist injuries. He emphasized the importance of a cautious recovery, warning against rushing medical procedures or taking unnecessary risks. This advice aligns with Red Bull’s approach, as confirmed by team principal Laurent Mekies, who stated the team prioritizes Hadjar’s health and long-term fitness over a quick comeback.

Hadjar’s absence has had a ripple effect across Red Bull’s driver lineup, with Tsunoda stepping in on short notice despite being on holiday in Greece. The team’s flexibility in managing these changes reflects the challenges of maintaining competitiveness while dealing with unexpected injuries.

Before the injury, Hadjar had planned a special helmet design for the Dutch Grand Prix inspired by Delft blue pottery and a broken trophy from the previous year. While he won’t be on track at Zandvoort, Red Bull aims to have him back for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in early September, although no official confirmation has been made regarding the exact timing of his return.

The Italian Grand Prix will be followed by the Spanish Grand Prix at the new Madring circuit, marking a busy period in the Formula 1® calendar. Hadjar’s recovery and readiness will be closely monitored as the team navigates these upcoming races.

Overall, the situation highlights the importance of managing injuries carefully in high-level motorsport. Marquez’s advice underlines the value of experience and patience in recovery, while Red Bull’s decisions reflect a cautious approach to safeguarding their young driver’s future in the sport.
