Jordan: "It was suicide to replace Sainz with Hamilton..."

Jordan: "It was suicide to replace Sainz with Hamilton..."

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

As we approach the start of the 2025 Formula 1 racing season, more and more people are expressing the opinion that Scuderia Ferrari has made a big mistake by signing Lewis Hamilton.

For instance, Eddie Jordan recently lashed out, even harshly criticizing the Ferrari leadership in a podcast:

“I have a message for John Elkann, the chairman of the group: What the f@$% were you thinking when you let Carlos Sainz go, with whom Scuderia Ferrari had a friendly, predictable, well-structured, and developing team? The drivers got along very well, Frederic Vasseur's work was starting to pay off, and he finally had the opportunity to achieve significant success with the Italians after a long time. Now he has to start thinking about reorganizing everything because he has to integrate a new member into the team, along with their ego and all the other baggage...”

Don’t get me wrong, Lewis Hamilton is a particularly nice person, one of the best guys in the F1 paddock, the problem won’t be with him. The problem starts with Elkann breaking up a perfectly functioning unit; it’s akin to suicide that he allowed all this to happen, that they were able to let Carlos go…” - Jordan concluded.
