The Netflix series Drive to Survive has become a significant part of the Formula 1® fan experience since its debut in 2019. With eight seasons and 78 episodes available as of 2026, the show offers an in-depth look behind the scenes of the sport. Co-Executive Producer Tom Rogers recently highlighted some of the standout episodes that have shaped the series’ narrative and brought fans closer to the paddock.

Among the episodes Rogers singled out is “Boiling Point” from Season 2, which captures the intense moments faced by Guenther Steiner and the Haas team. Another key episode is “Dark Days,” also from Season 2, which portrays Mercedes’ challenging race at Hockenheim in 2019, marking their first season featured in the series. Williams’ struggles to prepare their 2019 car under new regulations are the focus of “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” rounding out the notable Season 2 episodes.

Drive to Survive’s third season includes “Man on Fire,” an episode that covers Romain Grosjean’s fiery crash and Sergio Perez’s comeback win for Racing Point. This particular episode earned the series its first Emmy award, reflecting its impact and storytelling quality.

More recently, Season 7’s “In the Heat of the Night” offers a different perspective by featuring drivers filming their own personal content. This episode reveals the loneliness and pressures that come with race weekends, providing a more intimate look at the lives of those in the sport. The series is known for its unique access, including factory visits and candid moments with drivers and teams, which enriches the fan experience.

Rogers noted that the depth of content improves as more teams and drivers engage with the series. This cooperation allows the show to capture a broader range of stories and insights, giving fans a closer connection to the sport beyond the race track. Teams such as Mercedes, Williams, and Racing Point (now Aston Martin) have been featured prominently, alongside drivers like Grosjean, Perez, and George Russell.

Drive to Survive continues to serve as a valuable companion for Formula 1® enthusiasts, especially during periods without racing action. Its blend of competition, personal stories, and behind-the-scenes access offers a comprehensive view of the sport’s complexities and challenges.
