Chinese Grand Prix, sprint race: Here is Hamilton's first victory with Ferrari!

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

From a European perspective, there was nothing surprising to see in the sprint race of the Chinese Grand Prix, which started in a rather unfriendly interval. However, it was historic!

Lewis Hamilton had a perfect start, as did the entire field, which left the grid without any issues. Not long after, Lando Norris, who was in third place, attempted a rather bold maneuver and fell back to ninth place. Yuki Tsunoda, however, got a better feel for the rhythm and was already driving in sixth position by the third lap - presumably not just for the valuable points but also a bit for a seat at Red Bull Racing... Meanwhile, Liam Lawson was modestly sitting in 18th place after a controversial overtaking move. At the front, Hamilton maintained his second advantage over Max Verstappen, but around the eighth lap, the Dutchman closed the gap. However, nothing came of the action, so much so that instead of overtaking, Verstappen had to pay attention to Oscar Piastri, who was coming up from behind. By this time, the fronts had solidified, and we practically only saw a train of cars on the track. In the end, Piastri hunted down Verstappen, but he had neither the time nor the tires left to target Hamilton. Thus, the Brit won his first sprint race and achieved a Scuderia Ferrari victory ahead of Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.
