Cadillac boosts technical team with key hires

FansBRANDS® Team |

Cadillac is reinforcing its technical team by bringing in senior leaders from some of the most prominent names in Formula 1®. This move reflects the team’s commitment to building a solid foundation for its long-term development after debuting in the championship in 2026.

Earlier this season, Marcin Budkowski took over as Team Principal, succeeding Graeme Lowdon. Since then, Cadillac has announced three key technical appointments: Craig Skinner as Chief Development Engineer, Eric Blandin as Head of Aerodynamics, and Tim Lean as Chief Engineer – Aerodynamics Modelling and Simulation. Each of these figures brings extensive experience from top Formula 1® teams, including Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and McLaren.

Craig Skinner spent two decades at Red Bull, playing a role in their championship-winning efforts between 2021 and 2024. Eric Blandin has over 11 years of experience in senior aerodynamic roles with Mercedes and Aston Martin, while Tim Lean’s background includes work at McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari, focusing on aerodynamics modelling and simulation.

These appointments are part of Cadillac’s strategy to strengthen its technical capabilities and support its ambitions within Formula 1®. The team has emphasized that these hires are crucial for its ongoing technical evolution and long-term competitiveness. Budkowski noted that the new leadership will help improve integration across departments and enhance on-track performance.

By recruiting experienced personnel from established teams, Cadillac aims to accelerate its development process and build a more competitive package as it settles into the championship. While no specific performance targets or championship expectations have been outlined, the focus remains on steady progress and technical growth.

This approach underlines Cadillac’s intention to learn from proven expertise within the sport, combining knowledge from multiple leading teams to shape its future. The involvement of figures with backgrounds at Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and McLaren highlights the team’s commitment to assembling a diverse and experienced technical group.

As Cadillac continues to develop its Formula 1® programme, these strategic hires mark a significant step in establishing a robust technical framework. The team’s progress will be closely observed as it works to translate this expertise into improved performance on the track.
