Brazil Grand Prix, sprint race: Norris secured a gift victory

Brazil Grand Prix, sprint race: Norris secured a gift victory

Tamás Jancsovics |

In a towed race with little action, Oscar Piastri handed a smooth start-to-finish victory to Lando Norris to help him in the points standings.

Oscar Piastri got off the line very well, easily maintaining his leading position, while there were no changes further back in the leading group. Max Verstappen tried aggressively against Charles Leclerc but was unsuccessful after several attempts. Not so for Nico Hülkenberg, who made the most improvements among those on the track, but the fronts behind him became rigid. Sergio Perez also tried hard, as he had reason to, given that the seat under the Mexican is very shaky at Red Bull Racing. In the last quarter of the race, Verstappen caught up with Leclerc and took third place from him, while McLaren was preparing for a position swap. This happened in the 22nd lap, and the race nearly ended under VSC phase due to Hülkenberg's retirement, with just half a lap of racing. Thus, Lando Norris ultimately won the sprint ahead of Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.
