Kimi Antonelli secured a notable victory at the 2026 United States Grand Prix held at Circuit of The Americas, extending his championship lead with a well-executed one-stop strategy. Starting from pole position, Antonelli managed to maintain control throughout the race, marking a significant step in his campaign this season.

The race saw a competitive field with several teams and drivers facing various challenges. Charles Leclerc finished strongly in second place for Ferrari, benefiting from effective tyre management and strategic calls. Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing recovered to claim the third spot on the podium despite encountering car issues that affected his pace and tyre performance during the final stint. Meanwhile, George Russell struggled to find pace and was further impacted by a time penalty, ultimately finishing eighth behind McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri secured fifth and seventh places respectively, with the team noting some limitations in strategy and race pace. Racing Bulls managed to score points with Liam Lawson finishing ninth, while Arvid Lindblad recovered from a grid penalty to finish twelfth. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly earned a point in tenth place, though his teammate Franco Colapinto retired due to damage sustained during the race. Audi drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto showed strong recovery drives but fell short of scoring points, finishing eleventh and thirteenth.

Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll ended the race in sixteenth and fifteenth positions respectively, both affected by damage and strategic challenges. Williams drivers Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon encountered incidents and damage but completed the race in eighteenth and seventeenth places. Cadillac’s Valtteri Bottas retired late due to a power unit issue, while Sergio Perez finished nineteenth.

Pirelli Motorsport Director highlighted the strategic complexity of the race, noting that all three tyre compounds were used during the event. The hard tyre compound performed better than expected, supporting the success of one-stop strategies, which played a key role in the race outcome. This aspect underlined the importance of tyre choices and race management in the current Formula 1® season.
