The motorsport world council met, with the focus on reforming the existing points system.
The plan was to drastically intervene in the system, but this was ultimately rejected. Instead, they will eliminate the extra points system. This was introduced in 2019 for those drivers who finished in the top ten and set the fastest lap. This will no longer be the case from 2025. At the beginning of the season, there were still discussions about the possibility of awarding points to the top 12 instead of the current top 10.
Ultimately, after the current discussions, this was rejected, and the existing system will remain in effect alongside the mentioned changes.
