From time to time, Max Verstappen's future comes up, and it was no different on the Friday of the Austrian Grand Prix, where Toto Wolff admitted to a British Sky Sports reporter that Verstappen's acquisition is on their agenda.
True, not for 2026, but looking further into the future, the four-time world champion is clearly on their wish list. And this could possibly influence the length of George Russell's contract as well. Or maybe not?
"There is no delay in the negotiations; everything is proceeding as discussed. Besides, we have known each other for a long time, so we couldn't really be late with this. I represent one of the best teams in the world, so you can understand that it is my duty to assess what the current top driver of the grid wants to do in the future. And this has no impact on how many years George and we are signing for. This is much more about the distant future, and there is no need to read more into it than that," Wolff stated.
We are certainly curious about what is going on in George Russell's mind.
