Montoya: "It's not Hamilton that's bad, but his engineer."

Montoya: "It's not Hamilton that's bad, but his engineer."

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Juan Pablo Montoya believes that Lewis Hamilton is partly responsible for his lack of success. But not in the way you might think...

According to Montoya, it is high time for the seven-time world champion to take a much harder stance and assert his interests, even if it means asking for his engineer to be replaced. The Colombian believes this is the key to regaining the lost momentum:

“You often hear radio messages that Charles Leclerc was able to do this, and constantly listening to that is incredibly frustrating. After a while, it ruins the working relationship so much that Hamilton might even consider changing engineers. Lewis has always had a balanced and harmonious relationship with his engineers, while Ricardo Adami is the complete opposite...

Sometimes he asks him questions, but the other side is totally deaf, and there’s no response. We all know this is unhealthy; there needs to be a more professional approach at Scuderia Ferrari. This is not good for either Lewis or the team. If I were a decision-maker at Ferrari, I would give Adami an ultimatum. If this happens again, there’s no place for you here.” - Montoya stated, not without reason.
