Hamilton: "It bothers me that so many people are insulting me online..."

Hamilton: "It bothers me that so many people are insulting me online..."

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Throughout his career, Lewis Hamilton has spoken out against many "anomalies" (and in favor of them...) but online harassment is a very real problem, especially as a public figure.

If anyone knows this sad phenomenon, it is Hamilton, who receives both praise and criticism daily on social media and in the comment sections:

"You can't get used to this; after all, a person is not a robot. Although on some level you have to let it go, I must admit that the sheer number of hateful and negative comments I've received throughout my career has really saddened me. It doesn't matter what I do, who I am, how I drive, nothing is ever good enough for anyone. In contrast, I am very surprised by how the younger generation handles this. They are incredibly mentally strong and approach the issue very maturely, even though it represents a serious psychological burden for me.

This shows that the sport, Formula 1, is constantly evolving, not just the cars, the tracks, and the environment, but also the fan aspect - often not in the best direction. When I entered F1, there was no Facebook or Instagram, therefore there was no online harassment either. But one thing is certain, things are not heading in a good direction right now. This is the situation." - Lewis Hamilton spoke about the absurdities of the online space, and in this matter, it is hard not to agree with him.
